AGAIN, I’m using the term ‘silk’ loosely here since I have no idea what material a lot of these clothes are actually made of, and 99% of the time I don’t read the labels that closely (unless it’s not a rental and I actually have to wash or dry clean it myself of course). But these items all give off the impression of silkiness, and so I have to include them here.
First up, this absolutely fantastic pleated top from Opening Ceremony. I love this brand. And this was another one of my favorite rentals to date. An absolutely stunning top which the haters said looked like a curtain, but which I said looked like a masterpiece. The puffy (?) draped balloon sleeves, along with the silky material with a sort of gold finish, made it look like a modern version of a medieval European blouse. I wore it with black leggings from Free People to balance out the party that was happening on top.
This butterfly sleeve dress is from another one of my favorite designers, Prabal Gurung, who always combines modernity, elegance and innovation in his designs. (This particular number is from the Prabal Gurung Collective.) You can really see that vision at work here, as the material of the dress seems to hug my body tightly without giving off the impression that it’s form-fitting; in fact, the material felt very light. But while it flowed and moved with the wind very well, it was also very flattering on my figure, which is a balance that few designers can master.
