Skirts that make the whole outfit? Yep. Say no more. First two skirts pictured here are both popular items off Delfi Collective, in different colors. The pleated metallic multitiered skirt (that’s three trends in one, people!) sold out on Rent the Runway so quickly that it was a coveted item on the platform for months. It shimmered whenever I walked and looked so cool structurally. (The material truly felt as thin as the foil it looks like though, which wasn’t great for winter.) I paired the first (pink/purple) with a simple black off-shoulder top from H&M and Ettika earrings to match the tropical print background at 1803 restaurant in New York. The second outfit came to fruition after spending hours combing through Rent the Runway’s NYC flagship store searching for stuff I wanted to rent. The silver wrap top from ASTR spoke to me and paired perfectly with the silver/teal color scheme of the second Delfi skirt. (So much so that people also thought this was a dress!)
I’m still searching for big A-line midi skirts made of structurally sound material. But this blue A-line skirt from Parker was a close second! White and navy blue is a classic combo and I loved the stitching of these white flowers on the front.
This asymmetrical, ruffled, multitiered floral skirt from Viva Aviva is another memorable standout item for me. It was literally just fun to twirl around in!! The pink and purple/blueish colors make it such a bright and fun skirt, too, perfect for dancing. The ruffles and asymmetrical hem were reminiscent of a funky ballroom gown, minus the top. It’s trademark Viva Aviva, which is well known for their ruffles and well-structured pieces!
Two short skirts to highlight here: a classic white zip-up number from Diane von Furstenberg, and a blue Alexis ruffled skirt. What girl doesn’t need a reliable white skirt in her closet? I loved this elegant, chic rendition of it from DVF, who obviously embodies elegance and chicness in all of her designs. I dressed it casually with a burgundy sweater, tights and leather booties, going for a college girl look fitting for RTR On Campus, who I was working for at the time. Meanwhile this blue-white striped skirt from Alexis also has a cute vibe to it, with the ruffles and bow. I chose to dress it up a bit for brunch though, with a tan blouse and mules.
