So there’s a lot going on here! I’ll get into these outfits in more detail below, but wanted to group these together in one post because of their complex, often clashing prints and patterns. As I’ve noted plenty of times before, my eye is always drawn to the crazier side of fashion, and anything that has a funky cut, asymmetrical sleeves, ruffles and/or crazy colors is all fair game for me.

From top to bottom, left to right:

Blue/green ruffled maxi dress, pictured at the Beltline in Atlanta, Georgia: Tanya Taylor

A dream to wear. This Tanya Taylor piece is quite literally majestic, and I sure got plenty of weird looks walking down the Beltline around Ponce City Market πŸ™‚ The ruffles and various layers of the dress fluttered so beautifully, creating a sort of constant movement that gave it a life of its own. With tiny flowers dotting the dress and a draping collar (which, unfortunately, I didn’t get a great close-up of), it’s an absolute showstopper that will inevitably make you the center of attention wherever you go. It’s so detailed in fact, that the blue and green almost seem to blend together effortlessly, making it appear turquoise or blue-green under some lights.

Microfloral top and skirt, pictured at Billow Seafood Restaurant & Bar and the Chi Lin Nunnery in Hong Kong: AFRM, The Fifth Label

Because I’m constantly broke but still want to look good, one of my favorite things to do while shopping is scour the sale or lower price-end of all my favorite brands before deciding what to buy. That comes in handy for putting together fun outfits because I’ll stumble upon gems I had no intention of buying in the first place. That’s how this AFRM and Fifth Label combo came about, since I was stumbled upon both separately, having bookmarked them both in my mind, and then putting 2 and 2 together. Despite the clashing prints, I realized they would work together well after comparing the online images and thinking how similar the microfloral patterns looked and how bright the color schemes were. I had been looking for a nice silk skirt anyways, I really liked that this one had a leg slit, too. The tie-up crop top has a fun belt hole on the side, which gives way to some creative ways to tie it all together (no pun intended). I knew I had done a good job when everybody I met thought this was a dress (pro tip – crop top + high-waisted skirts!).

Multitiered maxi dress, pictured in Little Five Points in Atlanta, Georgia: Alexis

So. much. fun. That’s the only thing I could think about when I saw this dress on Rent the Runway and I’ve never hit the rent button so fast (ok, I probably have, but just go with it for the purposes of this post). Ruffles, a multitiered skirt, and bold, bright colors… everything I ever want! There’s a lot going on with this print but the detail on it is absolutely incredible. My favorite part is that the buttons blend in with the pattern as well. Only con was that the fabric of this dress was, as you can imagine, quite heavy.

Rainbow floral jumpsuit, pictured near Krog Street Market in Atlanta, Georgia: Fuzzi

I love a good elastic jumpsuit, since standard zip-up jumpsuits can really be a pain to put on. I loved the hippie vibes this jumpsuit had. The fabric and detail on this design made it look cool rather than cringe, chic rather than cheap.
