I’m not a huge animal print person, but because I do love to try out all trends – especially the crazy and bold ones – I ultimately caved to trying these out as well. And I’m personally pretty happy with the finished products!

From top to bottom, left to right:

Cheetah-print polka-dot maxi skirt, pictured at the Murray Hotel in Hong Kong: AFRM

On closer inspection this skirt is actually mainly made up of polka dots, varying in size and density. But I’ve included it in this post on animal prints to make a point, in a testament to how well patterns can work when you play around with them. I’m fully convinced the design was intended to resemble cheetah (or a related animal?) print when seen from afar. Brown tones worked well at this popular Instagram spot at the Murray.

Multicolored pleated snake print skirt, pictured at the Rainbow Village in Taichung, Taiwan: Delfi Collective

Delfi Collective is another one of my favorite brands. The snake print is overlaid on some bright metallic colors, on top of yet another layer of the pleated skirt itself. The impressive layering work here makes this a must-have statement piece for anyone who wants to put a twist on the snake print AND metallic pleated skirt trend… It’s a standout and a knockout all in one.

Zebra print dress with snake print bag, pictured on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana: A.L.C., Numero Ventuno

The different-colored panels of the dress, overlaid with zebra print, was really fun to wear. A nice going-out dress with a high collar that spells chic. Material was a little thinner than expected, however. Wanted to explore clashing prints yet again, so I paired it with the Numero Ventuno snake print bag.

Snake print top and pleated ombré snake print skirt, pictured in Cheung Kong Park in Hong Kong: AFRM

I first set my sights on buying the snake print top given that I wanted to expand my closet with more versatile items, but of course I fell for another statement piece! The snake print top is fantastic on its own, with its shoulder pads and synthetic material. But it would be remiss not to focus on that skirt as the centerpiece of my commentary. More pleated snake print skirts but with a twist, please!! Fell in love with this ombré pattern, tried to talk myself out of spending more money and buying it, but failed. Getting the top without buying such an insane matching piece felt… incomplete.
