I have to be honest – as much as I love to reminiscence on all of my former travels (RIP Covid), I remember them for the clothes I got to wear almost as much as for the places I got to see. No shame. Mexico City was one of the places that impressed me most, and I would be doing the trip (and the pictures) a disservice if I condensed them all into one post. I was fully surprised by just how lively and colorful the city was. And thankful I had the outfits to match!
I was a big fan of this dress once I got to try it on, but it definitely wasn’t an eye-catcher when I first scrolled past it on the Rent the Runway app. This is definitely one of those dresses you have to see in person to truly appreciate, although I’d hope my photo comes close. The ruffles along the front of the dress don’t feel like they’re overdone, and the tie-up belt still allows for a flattering figure. The material of the dress also allows for a crisp-cut silhouette, and as a result, the dress ends up looking super chic — not outdated or Victorian. People always talk trash on VSCO because it’s ‘basic’ and so widely used these days, but honestly sometimes it does its job really well. My go-to preset, K3, really brings out the vibrancy of the orange color in a way that my iPhone camera just couldn’t, and hides some of the dress wrinkles (unfortunately I don’t carry an iron everywhere). Not to mention those baby blue skies – it really does the background justice!
