I still struggle with this because of my love for bold statement pieces, but sometimes the best way to start working towards a more sustainable but still fashionable closet is investing in pieces that can go with a lot of other items. If you can’t be caught in the same outfit twice (on Instagram, at least), then it’s best to buy things that you can wear frequently as part of different outfits!
This sturdy asymmetrical dress from C/MEO Collective really worked out well that way. It’s casual chic, and is enough of a statement piece on its own, but looks even better with a classic black leather jacket (mine is an old Bershka buy with a sort of latex finish). Earrings are still Kate Spade, linked in an earlier post.
Both of these locations were Instagram finds: the Mexico Mi Amor sign can be found at the Tane jewelry store in CDMX’s glitzy Polanco neighborhood, while the amazing pinata display was found (after four tries, no less) in front of Ojo Amulets in Coyoacan, right next to the Frida Kahlo house. *The former has become such a popular Instagram spot that it appears to be known now as the Mexico Mi Amor store, according to Google…
