Quick break from the Mexico posts to share some good old New York Fashion Week content – one of the top things I miss about the city. One day I’d like to hope I’ll be invited to high-profile NYFW shows on the daily, but for now I’ll keep going to all the public ones I can. This is one of the looks I curated for FW 2019, inspired by my girl Ariana Grande with the high ponytail (thank u, next was the biggest hit of Fall 2018/Winter 2019. No questions asked).

I don’t remember how this outfit came together, only that I wanted to wear a leather skirt in mid-February without freezing to death. And of course, just my luck, it was a relatively (freakishly) warm winter day in NYC and I was sweating in this coat from Show Me Your Mumu. I matched the fluffy pink motif (again inspired by Ariana’s 7 rings look) with fluffy gray-blue earrings from Amazon, my reliable pink sunglasses which I found somewhere in Manhattan Chinatown and have since lost, an old gray-purple sweater, and knee-high boots I literally bought that day. To this day it’s still one of my favorite looks I’ve put together for some reason, perhaps because it was so improvised, and mixes streetwear with ‘fancier’ fashion (what would’ve been a no-no at some point in fashion time, but now there are no rules!). A coat like that can go with… anything. Photo taken somewhere along the High Line, in Chelsea:

Those same knee-high boots served me well for a much higher-end, fancier look that same week. Again with the rainbow motif, I snagged this tuxedo dress from Raga as soon as I laid eyes on it. Of course, like a NORMAL winter day in NYC, it was freezing, and I wore stockings underneath. Same high ponytail, but a completely different vibe…
